If I Woke Up In Paris, I Would... Vol 7


Can I get real with you all for one second?

Like real, real?

Sometimes...
 I'm an idiot.

Like, I forget to take off my makeup before bed
every night,
or burn anything that enters my oven,
and occasionally...
I mess up stuff like publishing my blogs correctly.

That's why this post is coming to you a bit out of order, 
but is none the less...
c'est magnifique!

Get ready to have your little socks knocked off
 as the lovely Kelly of 
is planning out her day in Paris.

Having never been, I would explore the city, of course!  I'd throw on a casual, yet chic outfit (black and white stripes make me think Paris) and some comfy flats (paired with red nails and pearls, of course) to enjoy the sites, sounds, shops and sips of the city.  Wine, macrons, boutique shopping and a trip to the Eiffel Tower would definitely be on the agenda. Oh, a lots and lots of picture taking, because that's how bloggers roll.  Someday, lovelies!  Until then, I will have to live vicariously through Lauren for now.

One last day of vacation,

If I woke up in Paris, I would...


First, I'd have this crazy shocked look on my face. "I promise that I'm not angry - just shocked!!"  I'll tell the crazy passer-by (assuming that I wake up on the street since I don't know where else I'd wake up). But then after I wake up from my shock, I'll have this look on my face out of pure excitement...


Let's also assume that I woke up with my bag and all of its junk - so yes, that'd include my wallet, cellphone, lipgloss, my dog (hehe, jk), fake mustaches, and beret! Let's also assume that my fiance (Ryan) is part of this crazy adventure. 



And of course, I would be ready with an amazing outfit like this one...



Once we get there, we'd call up one of my best friends, Tim (who happens to be a real live French man!) and have him show us around the city.


He has always promised to take me to one of the coffee shops - and I've always told him that I would love to sit under one of those little tables with an umbrella and sip my french coffee while wearing a beret and reading a book. So that is what I'll probably do, while the boys go off for a bit on their own leaving me with my French dream. 


However, while I'm reading my book I'll notice two interesting characters sitting next to me who'll look oddly familiar. Until I see the exploding fruit and the crazy confetti exploding all around, I'll finally realize who they are! As everything is exploding around me, I'll cover my ears and start screaming hysterically as the Juno-girl is doing the same, but then...



I'd wake up and realize it was all a dream! Just like the one my friends were having at the cafe. ;) Was it possibly a dream 
within a dream?! Hmmm...

Let's just hope that if I ever get that dream trip to Paris one day, it'll be more than a dream. It'll be a reality and maybe even get to visit some of my favorite blogger friends (ahem, Lauren) on that other side of the world!

the fact that it's Saturday,
the fact that I'm on the chunnel with my best friends right now...
or the fact that we have lovely Elizabeth blogging

{Elizabeth is one of my FAVORITE blogger friends!}

If I Woke Up In Paris, I Would...

If I woke up in Paris.....I would head to the Sculpture Garden at the Musee Rodin! 

Along the way, I would stop first at Cafe de Flore for a little cafe crema and excellent people watching.



Visiting the Rodin was one of the highlights of our Paris trip last year. 



Even my 6 year old son loved it....had to have his picture in front of all the sculptures!




There's no other city like Paris. Hope you're having a magical time, Lauren!

Bonjour, Amis! (or 'Hey ya'll' if you're from my neck of the woods!) I'm Cassie from Hi Sugarplum! and I'm thrilled to be guesting on Lauren's gorgeous blog today! I live vicariously through her posts and travels. And funny that she asked me to participate in this series, since Mr. Sugarplum and I are actually going to Paris (& Belgium *sqeeeeeeeal*) next month!

Keep in mind she didn't ask me, "If you were paying for it, what would your day in Paris be like?"

Without further ado...

If I Woke Up In Paris, I Would.... 

Good morning from my suite at the Hotel de Crillon! We throw open the doors to the balcony and gaze upon the city.

I throw on my impossibly chic outfit, with no regard to how comfortable the shoes are, and we stroll hand-in-hand to Les Deux Magots for a long, leisurely breakfast of no-carb croissants, juice and French-press coffee, er, I mean cafe.

Since we bop across the pond every other month, we are in no rush to see all the sights...Darling, we've seen them all! After people-watching through my Chanel shades for hours, we've worked up another appetite, so we wander to a sidewalk Creperie. I try all the flavors (calorie-free of course!) and determine Nutella is my favorite.

It's been a strenuous day, so we head back to our suite for a nap. A knock at the door rouses me from my perfect sleep, and I'm greeted by Room Service and a complimentary bottle of Dom Perignon! Really! After my stylists give me a blow-out and smoky-eye, I slip on my Louboutins and we head out.

The evening is spent on a private Bateaux Mouche, cruising up and down the Seine. We stop near the Eiffel Tower and watch a jaw-dropping fireworks display. (This part has actually happened to us...except for the whole private thing. We watched the Bastille Day fireworks celebration this way in 2000!)

We stroll through the city until the wee hours of the morning...another perfect day in Paris.

Hello, I'm Sue from The Zhush!  
While Lauren is away actually experiencing the real Paris, 
I'm here in New York, daydreaming about... 


What I would do if I woke up in Paris.





And, since it's a daydream...
let's start with where I'm waking up....


which would be in the Coco Chanel Suite at the Ritz!





What a dream that would be to stay there!


After I had called up room service and had my Parisian cafe au lait and about 37 croissants, 
I would meander across the street,
 over to Coco's actual private residence 
above the Chanel shop at 31 Rue Cambon.  


Later, I would want to grab some lunch at a side walk cafe.  
Since the best part of Paris is the people watching, 
I would want to plant myself there for the remainder of the day, 
with some fabulous wine and cheese to keep me company, 
while I take notes on all the stylish people of Paris!

At some point, I'm sure some shopping would be in order as well!

If I Woke Up in Paris, I Would...


What a coincidence! When Lauren emailed me about this guest post, I was actually in the middle of planning my own trip to Paris. I'm heading there next week so I can tell you one of the things that I'll actually be doing.


When I lived in Paris, a group of girlfriends and I had a tradition of celebrating each of our birthdays at one of the grand restaurants. Two of us have moved away but we meet up once a year or so and for this reunion, we've decided on Le Cinq. I already know it's going to be one of the highlights of my trip.

If I Woke Up In Paris, I Would... Vol 5


When you go somewhere, 
you talk to locals...
but you hit the jackpot when you find
someone back home 
who used to be a local.

When that happens-
you get all the best bits of the city 
culturally edited to your liking.

{Hey, I only have a week here people.}

Which makes me so happy to have 
the charming Carolyn
walk us through a day in Paris...
because not only is she fabulous, 
but she lived in Paris for four years!


If I Woke Up in Paris, I Would...

Since I would be waking up in my Christian Lacroix-decorated room at Le Bellechasse, I'd cross the Seine and start my day at Laduree on Champs-Elysees with a croissant aux amandes and a cafe au lait.



The best way to see Paris is to wander the streets with no true destination in mind.  That way, if you decide to open a garden gate and sit for a while on a parc bench, there's not pressure to be somewhere at a specific time.

From the Champs-Elysees, I'd walk to Avenue Montaigne where all the couture designers have their stores (and I'd hope the commotion around Dior would've died down).  I would then stroll down Rue du Faubourg St. Honore and stop by Colette and Flamant, two of my favorite boutiques for fashion and home decor. 



 I'd end up at Rue de Rivoli where there's the Musee des Arts Decoratifs and I'd definitely take the time to see the exhibit Fashion of the Nineties.




Walking along the Seine, I'd end up on Isle St. Louis and cross over to the left bank, where I'd pick up a jambon beurre at Maison Kayser on rue Monge and then walk Boulevard St. Germain, making my way to the 7th arrondissement by way of rue du Bac (another fashionable street full of fabulous stores).  Dinner at Au Bon Acceuil would top a perfect day - their menu (written in chalk on a blackboard) changes daily based on what's available in the market.  An after dinner, I'd stroll toward the Eiffel Tower (just take a right when you leave the restaurant!) and down the Champs de Mars back to the hotel.  



Ahh, what a lovely day spent in my favorite city on earth!
