I have a thing for calligraphy... in a pretty big way.
{Remember when I lived in Dallas and worked in luxury paper?}
Every time I see simple text transformed into artwork,
I fall in love again.
There's little better than seeing you own name
in all it's flourished & embellished glory!
Here are some of my favorite pieces we did
with one of my favorite magazines- DWeddings.
calligraphy by Tara Jones |
calligraphy by Boo Owens |
calligraphy by Natalie Clarkson |
Isn't that letterpress & calligraphy a killer combo?
It's to paper what leopard skin & red soles do for a shoe...
If you are looking for a great stationer- try my friends at Bell'Invito.
{You won't find better printing in the world.}
If it's a hand-penned piece you're after try my favorites:
You'll recognize her work from the calligraphy
seen here on Aspiring Kennedy- a personal favorite!
She did my wedding, and is the sweetest woman in all of Texas.
(Oh, and talented, too! D Magazine named her Best of the Best for 2010.)
Everyone loves her work- I promise you will, too.
Handmade precision- fit for a Queen
(As a matter of fact, Susie Melissa does do addressing for Buckingham Palace.)

Oh, I wish for two things: a stronger southern accent & to learn calligraphy. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! All of it! Beautiful calligraphy makes me weak in the knees and I'm glad I'm not trying to stand right now (corny I know but true:))

ReplyDeleteso lovely, and wonderful to find your blog via hello splendor!
ReplyDeleteI love calligraphy and used to do that, but I found it incredibly tense after a job that had 500 invites! My hands, and my fingers will never forget that....
ReplyDeleteI keep it for my own invites now! :)

Good morning from Tokyo!
ReplyDeleteIt's still very early here (thank you sweet scallywag for the morning wake-up kisses), but the early hour doesn't prevent me from appreciating the beauty of the above pictures.
Kind of like writting letters is becoming a lost art form, so is seeing elegantly penned envelopes. Calligraphy is so beautiful! The ones you shared with us are just breathtaking and I can't thank you enough. It's made me inspired for the upcoming Holiday season. Thank you for all the lovely links, Lauren!
A lovely November day to you in England...
Warmly,
Elizabeth
I agree completely! I can't decide which ones are more beautiful! Recently I have been so into calligraphic fonts, and would certainly have more if myfonts.com didn't charge my first born and left arm for them. But- they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMUST I have a Google account to be an Aspiring Kennedy follower? Because I MUST follow- in no way can I lead...
ReplyDeleteOOPS! Apparently, I HAVE said Google account! I wonder what the password is...
ReplyDeleteMiss you, Miss-almost Kennedy!!
Wow that is so cool that you worked with those!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Especially drooling over the first image with the invites!
