Remaking a classic can be dicey.
Sometimes it's best to leave something
sitting in the rose colored remembrances.
{Because maybe Crystal Pepsi wasn't actually all that awesome...}
This is especially true when it comes to the big screen.
The 1954 movie, Sabrina, originally starred
...was remade in the 1990's
under the original title with
Both movies are split with scenes of splendor
in Paris & Long Island-
and both have perfectly casted stars for the roles.
I have to admit, I like the newer version.
I saw the newer one first,
and it wasn't until for several years after
that I even knew of the original,
so my bias was already set.
Have you seen Sabrina?
Which version do you prefer?
Audrey & Humphrey
or
Julia & Harrison?
{or is it something you prefer to click past when it's on...}

i'm with you. the first one is lovely, but the second one is FABULOUS! i still die over the cottage on martha's vineyard. le sigh.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that movie!! I actually fell in love with the original first, then when the new version came out I just HAD to see it. I must say, I like both! :)
ReplyDeleteyes ive seen sabrina - and i love the newer version!!!! i should probably watch the aubrey hepburn one though...but i love harrison ford in this!
ReplyDeleteI just can't turn my back on my girl Aubrey. Classic all the way! =)

ReplyDeletei much prefer the latest, just something about that harrison ford!!
ReplyDeleteKeep It Fancy- Oh really? I had always thought it was the Hamptons, but can't seem to find where it says either. I'll trust you! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Audrey/Bogie combination was a little off but I can't turn my back ony my girl. The first one has to win out just because of Audrey!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Audrey, I prefer the newer one. I felt that Bogey was waaaayy to old for Audrey's version of Sabrina. Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford were a much better fit.
ReplyDeleteTh new version was the first I saw, so many years later I saw the original and I preffer it. I don't like the new version.
ReplyDeletebleh! did not like the new version! i really loved audrey in the first. however i will admit something about humprey rubs me the wrong way so if they could just swap out harrison for him... perfection. also i like that sabrina goes to paris for photography school not cooking classes... much more pro women whoot whoot we can do it sorta thing. xoxo jcd :: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI would have to say I enjoy the 'modern' Sabrina. It's just so lovely. Not that Audrey and Humphrey did not preform but there's just something about Indian Jones as Linus ;) and when Greg sits on those champagne glasses! hilarious. both good, but the second one is better.
ReplyDeleteWell, there are poodles in the original movie poster, so that is an indication it is FAR superior to the modern remake. (Sorry, dear Harrison...)
ReplyDeleteI love the remake!!! I was actually watching it yesterday while working on a project at home, and then Ghost came on!!! Amazing
ReplyDeleteI love both!! I am a little partial to the first. My mother said that she named me Sabrina after the movie because she loved Audrey Hepburn!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen either!! Boo on me!! Need to put them in my queue!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, this is one movie where I probably like both equally. It would depend on my mood I guess, but for some reason I fancy the Audrey version if I need just a good black and white movie to watch on a lazy weekend afternoon...and the later version feels more date-night like to me.
ReplyDeletethis is such a go to movie for me. i can't really decide which one i like best though! they are both so cute.
ReplyDeletei absolutely love the classics, but now you've got me interested to see this remake.
ReplyDeleteIn a perfect world, Harrison Ford would have been a movie star during the older version to co-star with Audrey Hepburn. No matter how classic of a movie star he is, I could never imagine falling in love with Bogart. Harrison? Heck yes. And Audrey is always stunning and timeless.

I love them both. I used to watch the newer version with my Dad all the time, so probably prefer it a bit more as it give me fond memories.
ReplyDeleteI saw the newer version first and just recently saw the original. Although I really liked the more modern one, I absolutely love the original much much more!
