I just needed to talk to someone about this...
I made them for dinner this weekend
and it was a bit of a life changer for me.
Granted, I could eat a baked potato for every meal of my life.
At points, I have even subconsciously tried.
Unfortunately Tyler doesn't seem to share
my fervor & stamina for protein-void carb-loading.
It's a shame, really.
Anyway, back to the sandwich.
Thinly-sliced roasted potatoes
with all the goodies from an (American) baked potato
cradled between a grilled cheese sandwich?
It's just too much really.
{Seriously, it probably is too much fat/sodium/etc, but that's not what I mean.}
Obviously, this takes a bit more prep time than your standard grilled cheese,
but the result is worth the fifteen extra minutes of slicing, stacking & chopping.
So go on,
do yourself a favor
and try these bad boys out.
The recipe is from BS' In the Kitchen
that I pinned from my food board on Pinterest.
Report back to me afterwards
so we can get emotional about it together.
FEED ME. Why am I allergic to gluten. WHY!?
ReplyDeleteI'm obviously going to get this in my mouth NOW, if not sooner! I've always wondered what cheese Americans in the UK use in this sandwich, though? I want mine to taste as authentic as possible but our cheddar cheese isn't that lovely bright colour!
ReplyDeleteHang on- I thought you didn't like melted cheese?!
ReplyDeleteYou've got to try my baked potato pizza, though, if you don't mind the cheese- it's AMAZING if you're a potato fan! http://www.peachandthistle.com/2012/06/friday-food-day-farm-delivery-june-8.html
Oh, and my husband says I'd be an excellent poor Russian, because I'm happy to just eat potatoes and drink vodka. True story.
I think I might have just died. This is real life and I haven't eaten it? Needs to change - pronto!
ReplyDeleteMemoirs & Mochas
Whoa! That thing looks amazing. It's only 7:40am but now I want one. So wrong.
ReplyDeleteYou just picked two of my very favorite things & put them together... you're a little bit (a lot bit) of a genius in my eyes right now. I most definitely share in your fervor and stamina for protein-void carb-loading. I don't believe in anything else.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm giving away a box of favorites over at my blog & would for your readers to check it out (it's US readers only - but feel free to participate & have it shipped to your fambam in the States, ha!)
Have a beautiful day!

ReplyDeleteO.m.g., that is all. sign me up, looks delish
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious. My mouth is just watering looking at it. And my pants are getting too tight, too.
ReplyDeleteStill, I'll probably try it. I mean, who WOULDN'T?!
Hi. I just recently found your blog and I'm so glad I did because OMG, what is this? I obviously have decided on dinner tonight. :D Also this person is doing a grilled cheese month?! I have died and gone to Heaven.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed the sandwich Lauren! I love your writing style too! If you haven't been keeping up, you will have to stop by http://bsinthekitchen.com and see all the other sandwiches we have been posting for National Grilled Cheese Month!
ReplyDeleteI think Nate would die if he saw this!
ReplyDeleteoh my god. i need this. have you ever had baked potato mac and cheese? hands down one of the best things i have ever eaten.
ReplyDeleteLOVE grown up grilled cheese sandwiches! :) Currently loving pesto with a white cheese! But I'm right there with you- put a baked potato in front of this girl and you will have one happy lady... Must be the Dallas side of me coming out!
ReplyDeleteOMG, these look too good! And they couldn't come at a worse time as I'm about to start a foodie spring cleanse. But, oh my, salad doesn't quite have the same appeal, does it? ;)

This does look amazing, especially for cold winters here in England. Side note Lauren. When I moved back to England I realized that some of my 'bonnie-isms' were really that I was born in and lived in England as a child. One was wanting to eat jacket potatoes with heinz beans. To be fair I also got teased in America relentlessly for my beans on toast comfort food. Yum. I think this sandwich would be awesome with a side of beans. x

ReplyDeleteI'm so with you on this! I could carb load like a marathon runner every day lol. This would definitely been a fun recipe to try out on one of our terribly unhealthy Sunday night:)
ReplyDeletemmm mmm mmm that looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh yum!!! Potatoes are my absolute weakness - in any shape or form!!
