Often times lately, I've felt overwhelmed with love
from our friends & family
during the start of our little family.
Other times, I feel so tired from crazy newborn sleep
that the world around me seems a bit like a blur.
And, maybe more than I'd like to admit,
I feel like pulling the curtains closed
and crying my eyes out.
But amidst all the up & downs,
I'm constantly finding myself on the high
watching Tyler become a dad to my baby girl.
Even though you've probably heard it a thousand times
from a thousand other girls,
I'm going to say it again:
Watching your man love your baby
is one of the most attractive things he'll ever do.
Check out that sexy baby-wearing-man at the Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race. |
You heart will inflate so big
you might worry it will pop out of your body
and land on the pile of baby clothes
sitting on the couch cushion next to you
waiting for two free hands to fold it.
Weekend stroll through Notting Hill |
You'll stop & stare all googley-eyed at them
and feel like you are the luckiest girl in the world.
Just a few days old eating dinner at the Prince Bonaparte Pub |
Because even though he may be showering another person
with his love & attention
and giving up a piece of his heart to them...
...you'll also kinda feel like
he couldn't show his love to you in a better way.

Crying a little bit...cuz I know exactly what you mean:) So happy you get to do this whole parent thing along your best friend. You will need their emotional stability to lean on when you feel like you just became that crazy lady that just gave birth;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post, Lauren! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet, Lauren.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo that caught you smiling at your two loves is the absolute sweetest.

ReplyDeleteTotally made me cry. "Because even though he may be showering another person
ReplyDeletewith his love & attention and giving up a piece of his heart to them...you'll also kinda feel like he couldn't show his love to you in a better way." Exactly. I've never found the right words, but you just described perfectly.
Aren't post pregnancy hormones just grand? Girl, cry all you need. You have more reason than the rest of us to just let it all out. Give yourself some grace to close the curtains when you need a moment.
So sweet. Possibly my most favorite post ever. You guys look so happy :) xx

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Lauren! :) I cannot wait to see how my hubby is with our little one once she/he is here. We visited some friends last weekend who have a baby girl and he sat her on his lap and was holding her, talking to her-it just melted my heart. So precious!
ReplyDeleteI don't think love could be described better:)
ReplyDeleteSo true and now I'm all teared up. That last picture is just exploding with love!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to experience that with my husband. We've been trying to get pregnant for well over a year at this point, and one of the things that gets me through the frustration is knowing that one day my husband will have a baby to adore like that. It is beautiful watching any new dad (or dad in general) dote on their little one. Precious!
ReplyDeleteAll so true!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me tear up! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're such a good family!!!
that was just. so. sweet. :) brimming with happiness for you!
ReplyDeleteSo true. Nothing is sweeter than a papa taking care of his sweet bundle of joy.
ReplyDeleteI was always so grateful for my husband when my daughter was a baby. Just watching them could melt my exhausted heart.

ReplyDeleteAh Lauren, you had me in tears over this one. Such beautiful words and such beautiful pictures. There is nothing more awe inspiring as watching a daddy with his child...especially when said child is a little girl. Blessings to you and your family. Thank you for letting all of us be a small part of it.
ReplyDeleteOh this is so sweet. I melt a little watching my husband with our puppy, I can't imagine how I will feel actually seeing him with our children.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh..This is so so sweet!
ReplyDeleteAnd I just started crying. Crazy pregnancy hormones! What a sweet post. I agree with Molly, I love seeing my husband w/the dog & can't imagine what this fall is going to be like. Probably blubbering a lot, as I'm already doing that for other people's husbands I've never met :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
Ahhh! Congratulations! I am just getting caught up with your blog-when did you have baby girl? what is her name? how is it going?? How do you feel? I guess I will read through your blog and try to answer my own questions :D

You said this perfectly! I feel the exact same way seeing my husband with our little guy. I knew he would be a wonderful dad --- but he has blown away all my expectations. SO much love

ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt in my mind that Tyler is an amazing guy....and will be an absolutely dream of a father!! I know there are days that are much harder than others. But, I feel comforted to know that Tyler is there by your side.

This is so sweet, can't wait for those days :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the sweetest posts there is. I've heard there's nothing like seeing your husband love on your new baby and its something I look forward to witnessing, myself.
ReplyDeleteEmily at Amazing Grapes
It's so true. It's honestly one of the most moving parts about becoming a parent. It gets better and better too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm experiencing the same thing with my guy. Watching him take care of this baby girl the last 5 weeks made me love him more than I knew I could. I think my new overwhelming love for him caught me more off guard than how I much I could love this new little person.
ReplyDeleteMemoirs & Mochas
So so so sweet. Y'all have a love that is true and strong. I know that both of your emotions have probably been overwhelming in the past several weeks due to the down-up nature of your situation, but I am so happy to see you all going out of the house and doing "normal" things. The Oxford-Cambridge boat races I bet were fun!
ReplyDeleteQuestion - have you been BF-ing? And does beer really help? Wondering if wine has the same effects! My Mom "can't remember" so I am just curious.
XOXO
What a lovely post! So happy for you and your little family!
ReplyDeleteYour posts about V and Tyler kill me...you are so eloquent in expressing those real feelings and emotions. I totally agree...no one, not even grandparents, can love your babies the way your man can. It's enough to make sure the two of you never part.
ReplyDeleteChills! Such a perfect little fam.
ReplyDelete"...you'll also kinda feel like he couldn't show his love to you in a better way." well said. I agree 100%!
ReplyDeleteNew reader....first comment. This post was and is SO true!! We just had our third sweet baby 3 months ago and it never gets old watching my hubby love on them. I adore your blog and your outlook. Your writing is equal parts funny and sweet and you seem so authentic. We are currently living in Denver CO but are looking into relocating to the UK. My hubby is researching jobs as I type this...if were ever in the area (and I hope some day soon we will be) I would love to take you and your sweet babe out for coffee. :)
