Monday Moods: I feel... scared.

No, but seriously.

I am feeling a little jumpy.

After an eery tour of London's East End...
also known as "White Chapel"
to trace the tale of Jack the Ripper,
I'm sleeping with one eye open.

I mean,
I may not be a prostitute like all of Jack's victims
{regardless of what impression you may get from my affinity to leopard print}...

RipperVision... Portrayed images at the scene of the crimes!

and it's pretty much settled that the unknown killer is dead 130 years later...

But still.

It was creepy!

We took this Jack the Ripper tour
for £8 per person.

Our guide, Amy, was really animated
and kept the whole group interested for the whole tour....
though, man, that story gets VERY gruesome.

It took about 1.5 hours
and showed us some really quirky parts of London
we had never visited.

If this looks familiar, Harry Potter's Diagon Alley was partially filmed here.

While it may have given me the heebie-jeebies,
it also felt like the perfect way to celebrate Halloween in London.

Tonight, I'm hosting a party...
my costume is yet to be determined.

What are your plans?
(And any easy costume ideas you can send my way?)

  6. Sounds like so much fun! We've done ghost tours over here, but they're always colonial ones (being in VA and all). Somehow not quite as creepy as Jack the Ripper!

Easiest idea I've had is Audrey Hepburn/Breakfast at Tiffanys. Black dress, pearls, hair up, and done.

  8. Oh wow I don't think I have the guts to go on a tour like that. I can't even do the cheesy haunted houses around town let alone a real life killer tour!

For an easy costume Idea, I was a loofa shower sponge 3 years ago and I literally made that costume an hour before my party. Here's a tutorial: http://www.yourmoderncouple.com/2011/10/25/my-greatest-halloween-costume-ever/

  9. Lauren! These photos are so awesome! I love the eery effects and the colors- gives me chills! I'm a total scardy cat so when my friend told me I JUST HAD TO go on the dead tour in Edinburgh I almost did but chickened out because I realized that it was a ghost tour, and I was sleeping alone, and just the commercials for scary movies makes me not sleep for nights. So, yeah, I can't handle things like that... I know he's dead but copy cat murderers happen all the time.

  10. That sounds AWESOME!! Super creepy, but still awesome! Just get fake blood. Then you can be bloody ___, or ____ victim, or dead ____. It could work. :)

  13. You can be an '80's aerobics instructor! It's super easy and fun :)
just get some thick tube socks and cut the toes off for leg warmers, white sneakers, leggings, a bathing suit and either cut off sweatshirt or an oversized tank! and I am sure you can find some sort of scrunchie and hair spray !! have fun!

  14. How fun! Years ago I remember visiting this historical museum tour underground that documented all of the terrifying events through London;s history, including Jack the Ripper. There were also people dressed up who came up to you...thought it was really cool and would be fun to do during Halloween time :)

  15. You and Tyler are just too cute. That would be a fun tour but I think I would have to sleep with one eye open for a month afterwards! Halloween got cancelled here due to a snow/ice storm and so many people w/out power. Can you believe it? It's October for crying out loud! xo
