Why Paris Parks are Perfect

A day in the Luxembourg Gardens
strolling along in the sunshine.

Yes.

This is truly is Paris at it's finest.

The only thing missing is a cone of peach Berthillon ice cream in my hand.

Bright Lights

Amidst the grey skies of London & Paris,
I'm starting to see spring break through.

It feels so nice.

The bright sunshine
and the shorter hems
 silently promise that, soon,
warmer days will be here to stay!

But the best promise of the good weather to come?

The bright bursts of colors that keep finding me.

Oh, April in Paris....
hurry!

coffee break in amsterdam
the ceiling of the opera garnier by marc chagall
stained glass shimmers at da vinci's burial place, amboise.
cheesy bursts of color on a picnic in switzerland
bright windows in the loire valley
sitting in the sun at les invalides.

April Binging Brings May Penny Pinching

Looking back at April,
I would have to describe the month as
well... extravagant.

we really lived it up.

Sadly, this month brings a dose of reality
(and a hefty stack of bills to pay),
so these Aspiring Kennedys are cutting back
to compensate for the non-stop party
we will fondly remember as "April 2011."

(note to self: it was totally worth it.)

I'm cutting back on the little things...
as they do seem to add up.

Things like buying the whole chicken
versus buying chicken breasts are some ways
I'm finding will save me some big chunks of change.

And I'm also waiting.

Waiting to make sure I've actually used my body wash completely
before buying another container.

Waiting to get home before I grab something to eat for lunch.

Waiting for my lottery check to arrive in the mail.

{Sigh}

It's not exactly fun to be on a budget,
but it seems to make the "big" events better
when they come around, doesn't it?

What are some simple ways you cut back
when you need to save up?

A Pretty, Pretty Plea

We all know the legendary glory
of April in Paris....

And who wouldn't want to see
the Alps adorned in springtime flowers...

but I'd like to bring forth
the unsung hero, England.

Gray, dark, and dismal England
has shed her winter coat,
and is revealing herself to be quite a stunner.

Seriously...

isn't this place a dream?

I'm even smitten with the cheerful moss on my building.

Weekend: London Edition

My in-laws are in town,
and we've been in London for the weekend.

And thought it hasn't exactly been relaxing,
it's been pretty darn fun!

Back to Oxford tomorrow after a morning at Westminster Abbey.

How's your weekend ending up?

Monday Moods: I feel... anxious.

As much as I want time to stand still,
and leave us frozen in this winter forever...

I'm noticing that I'm fighting a losing battle.

{... but what a gorgeous loss it is.}

Spring is coming!

Botticelli's Primavera

(Indulge yourself in a bit of culture
by learning a bit about one of my favorite artists here)

I stopped by my parents house today, and took a walk in their garden,
and the flowers smelled. oh. so. divine.

My sister shipped home these tulip bulbs from the Keukenhof Gardens 3 years ago, and we are still graced with their extravagant bloom every year. Those Dutch can really do tulips right!

It is completely and officially sandal weather, and I could not be happier!
(BCBGMaxazria Gladiator Sandals- Originally $210, I bought for $55.00. Thank you Saks 5th Avenue.)

I still believe in the feminine entitlement to a new dress at Easter. Yes, even at 25 years old.

I've hunted through Harper Bazaar's Spring Fashion trends,
and here are some things that I am ready-to-wear.
