Take Note: Fall Is Here.

While autumn may be a few degrees away
from my friends back home,
it arrived here in London earlier this week.

The summer slid away quietly
as the air got simultaneously crisp.

Luckily.

Even Viola is ready for the cool weather!

After getting rid of all of my summer clothes
last summer in a fit of jaded angst against British weather,
warm weather was a bit awkward for me.

Also, remaining baby weight looks better under a coat.

{It's been proven by scientists.}

The bottom line is:
I'm glad to usher in the cooler weather
and get cozy.

While I'm all about coats,
I also love the hibernation
that comes along with the cooler weather.

I'm feeling heavy on the black & leopard...
oh man, it just feels perfect
to slip on something a little dark + glam
and head out in the cold air.

Get ready, North America...
Autumn will be there before you know it!

First Day of School

Today I went back to school...
not as a student,
but to teach.

I started off the class,
went rolling through my material,
and when I was about 75% finished with my lesson
I checked the time...

It was 8:07 am.

I had been teaching for seven minutes.

It was time to slow down & pace myself...
and, luckily, I did.

The rest of the class went fine & was actually very fun...

Though I'm sure all the veteran teachers that read this
could school my efforts... Teach me your ways!

While getting up at 6 was the opposite of enjoyable,
I had forgotten my pleasure in constructing an outfit
for the first day of school.

So here is what I wore.

Like, literally.

I somehow managed to find every piece on line.

Anthropologie sweater | h&m black jersey shirt | vera wang landyn flats | milly hobo bag | h&m slim trouser | kate spade, twirl

Ok fine,
except the pretty Vera Wang shoes.

I've never seen them except on-line.

I actually wore leopard mary-jane flats,
but I've had mine too long
and they are extinct from the interwebs.

Going back to school was so much fun.

I kept thinking of "You've Got Mail" and the idea of a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils,
and just in case you love that movie
as much as I do...

Make Your Life Better, Volume 2

I loved the first version of this post....

It was fun being so bossy.

So I'm doing it again...
and you're gonna like it!

Here are my recommendations
(some might say, "commands")
to a better life... at least for today.

Kidding aside-
these are things that are making my days a bit brighter
as the weather is getting cooler.

The slow food movement is a rebellion against fast food...
NPR can tell you all about it.

(also written for Italy & England)
offers places you can go and stay in France
that offer food that is locally sourced
and prepared well...

{I think of it as an "agroturismo" on steroids.}

I'm dreaming of an entire trip traveling from different places
in France and England
staying and tasting these places...
maybe you should come with me.

I was sent a bottle of Chanel's Black Pearl Nail Polish
by the lovely Anna Pettus...
and I am totally digging it.

It makes me feel like a rebellious debutante.

It's 14 days into September and you haven't made Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls?

What is wrong with you?

Go.
Now.
Don't convert how much butter is in the recipe.
Just do a trust fall into the yumminess.

If you like Sophie Kinsella,
(the mastermind of the Shopaholic Series)
her old books are slowly getting republished
under her real name, Madeleine Wickham.

Swimming Pool Sunday & The Tennis Party
came out (again) recently here in the UK
and I've added them to my suitcase.

(I'm headed to Dublin in one hour. Yikes!)

missoni pillow | tyler candle, high maintenance | j crew cardigan | bottega veneta flats

These things?
Well, they are all the things
 I wish I could have
to make my own life better.

If you get any of them,
I'll be insanely proud... and jealous.

There you have them...
simple steps, people.

Now go on.

And if not for me,
do it for the children.

Monday Moods: I feel... cozy.

Brrrrr...
Welcome to England, Winter!
