Downton Abbey- Your New Favorite Thing

I always assume everybody already watches Downton Abbey;
however, I have grown increasingly alarmed
to learn that some of you still have not jumped in to the series.

Here's the deal...
you need to.

You, just, really do.

Watch this clip
and I double dog dare you to resist
the lure of Downton.

The fabulous plots,
the costumes,
the gorgeous English backdrop...
Maggie Smith's hilarious one liners.

Everything about Downton Abbey is just so perfect.

It's like Pride & Prejudice meets Sophia Coppola meets The Titanic.

If you thought Will & Kate brought England back on the style map,
this is going to be the next (and dare I say, larger?) wave of English style
to sweep the pop-culture scene & re-establish the British Empire.

The final straw to convince you that you need to watch it?

It's reportedly the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's favorite show.

  11. Stinkin heck. I had been wanting to watch it, and I knew it would be amazing, but I hadnt carved out the time to find it and sit down and get all caught up ... until I saw season 1 at the library here :) The time just kind of carved itself out.

Then I reeeeally wanted season 2, but for one reason or another couldn't get it online, so yesterday I couldnt believe it when season 2 dvd appeared at the library!! I was the first person to ever check out those dvds. :D

  15. I have been DYING to watch the show since it came out. DYING!!!!!!!!! I just haven't had a chance to do it. I'm so sad. I know when I finally do see it it's all I'm going to blog about. How could I not? Then the rest of the time I'll be trying to convince my husband to move to England. And wear top hats.

  17. I tried to explain this show to some of M's FEMALE co-workers who aren't watching it and they basically said they thought it sounded boring. And then a little {LARGE} piece of me died. BORING?!? It is ANYTHING but boring. I love it.

  21. Not only am I obsessed but this show even locked in my anti-most-anything-British-because-it's-probably-like-Austen husband! And I've totally noticed more Edwardian inspired fashion on Pinterest since it became popular. *sighs with joy*

  22. I wish there were a Downton Abbey club, like book club. So we can talk about it all the time! I literally JUST posted that on facebook like 5 minutes ago. I want a rainy day to re-watch the whole series again!

  25. You're quite right about Downton being the next big British style crush overseas - the theme tune was used as the backing music for Ralph Lauren's runway show yesterday! (I swooned when I read this on Twitter.)

  29. The deepest sort of love I can have for a show, I've bestowed upon Downton Abbey. I've also started luring people into it's clutches. Soooo good.

  30. Dame Maggie Smith brings it every time! My favorite line of the Countess... "what is a weekend?"
The last time I was in Dublin a few months ago, Dowtown Abbey was actually on the telly! I was so stoked! Pints and Downtown Abbey! Sheer brilliance! :)
