Little Lussie

A few days ago,
I was wandering through Scotland
like a local.

Today, I'm sitting on a porch swing
in the southern heat of Florida.

I'd take a picture to show you...
but my camera lens fogs over every time I try to take a picture.

While these beautiful little Floridian streets
of perfectly manicured lawns
lining pastel colored homes
filled with perfectly tanned people living inside
have a quite stunning effect...

I'm not sure how they compare
to the little village of Luss
that I stumbled upon over the weekend
while working our way up through Scotland.

(Though Scotland doesn't have my mom's biscuits & gravy... and that is hard to beat.)

I love the quaint "kirk" in the town.
("Kirk"= church in Scotland)

I also really love Cadbury 99's.

(Ridiculous soft serve on a cone with a Cadbury flake shoved in it. Yum.)

Seeing them just makes it feel like summer
has actually arrived here in Britain...

even if "summer" often means
wearing a sweater, jeans & a giant scarf
while the grey skies above you spit out rain.

  1. Oh my, dying over the antlers and plaids! My husband wants to hunt red stag in Scotland one day - everything is so beautiful. I'll have to forward this to him!

  2. I'm in LOVE. Seriously. Each picture I looked at made me think "I could move there tomorrow..." So gorgeous.

Thank you so much for sharing.

  3. Stop it! Stop with the amazing photos!!!

  4. Funny, 'kerk' is a church in Afrikaans. Pics look amazing. Enjoy Florida. Any chance you are flying back via Cape Town? I sure do miss afternoon teas in London...

  5. Amaaaazing! You're making me so excited about our trip to Scotland in September!

  6. Gorgeous. They're so very "Scotland". Welcome back to the states! Ah the lens fog. Oklahoma won't be much different. ;)

  7. I cannot believe I had no clue this place existed! Oh my goodness! I would sooo stayed there forever if I knew. So quaint and beautiful. Love your 'summer attire.' Cute cute!

  8. Loving your pictures! That church is precious! What part of Florida are you from?

  9. Love, love, love! My pasty white skin can't handle Florida (even though that's where my husbands family lives). I'd take scarves and cardigan weather any day over the Florida heat.

  10. Fabulous photos. Scotland looks like a great spot to visit. Would you believe its only a 20 minute flight from Ireland an I've never been. I must make a point of visiting soon.

  11. Cadbury 99's were my favorite as a kid! They are one of the things I missed most when I moved back to the states- so good! I try to make my own with McDonald's ice cream but its not the same :(

  12. What an absolutely gorgeous post. I am speechless. The photos are stunning. Hope you have a great day honey!

  15. Totally understand what you mean about just being 'taken' by the little villages in Scotland and the rest of the UK. I am also an ex pat living just outside London and ADORE the small towns and villages here in the UK. Something that you have captured beautifully on your blog

  16. Scotland looks magical! Hope you had a fun time back home in the US!
