The Vlog.

As some of you might have seen my post on facebook tonight
during the final moments of editing,
I might have gotten in over my head when I offered to do this vlog.

I loved getting all of your questions,
(it's amazing how many of you asked the exact same ones),
I loved thinking through the answers,
but answering them on tape?

Didn't love that so much.

The original plan was to be low-key and film this on our terrace,
but then Tyler was super sweet & supportive
& wanted to help me film it somewhere cool.

We compromised on my favorite street in our neighborhood
and after an hour of awkward taping, we got seven minutes of decent video.

So if this is all so awkward, why did I do it?

Because after watching my friend Michelle's vlog-
I felt like I knew her all the better.

Somehow seeing her "in real life" confirmed who I thought she was
after reading her blog for so long...
and I thought it might be nice to do here.

 I hope you like it,
I hope it answers some of your questions,
but I mainly hope you don't notice how many times
I say the phrase "I don't know."

So.... what'd you think?
Am I what you thought I'd be like?

*special thanks to Tyler Knight for putting up with hearing this audio on loop for hours while I edited. poor thing.
** I know, I know... I didn't answer every question on this... it was just getting sooo long. I'll try to address them in the future! (Or you can email me if you're needing an answer sooner.) :)

  12. This was so cute, Lauren! You seem just like how you are on the blog. I love that you did this and that you incorporated reader questions. I've been avoiding vlogging myself and my hubby who LOVES doing videos (I think he's done nearly 600! Crazy!!)keeps bugging me to do some videos. I actually just told him an hour ago that I finally would sometime soon. ;)

  13. BAHAHA! Totally me who asked the baby question! And you gave the exact answer I would say. I keep asking my husband if we can move to the UK for a few years just so our kids can have cute accents!
You are such a good sport!
Just promise me when you become BFF's with Princess Kate that I can come have tea with you and bring my little princesses as well, ok?
    High five on the video!

I didn't realize you get to travel for work (SO cool and funny because my friend has always wanted to do study abroad programs for undergrads!) I can't complain though because I just got a regional role and am going to Melbourne for the first time - woohoo!

You're reminding me I need to get on a Shanghai post. I am now missing London (one of the very few times since we moved away!) Have a great summer in London!

And now I need to move back to London immediately. Seriously, between you and Megan I am DYING to get back to the UK.

  40. I looooooved this! You are so gorgeous! Ugh. Gorgeous. My favorite line (and I will probably use this later) is "I speak enough Italian to keep me well fed" hilarious and so true. I also loved finally learning what your job was, I definitely wondered. We are dealing with the visa thing now and moving to Israel, we will be starting on a tourist visa and had an offer to be sponsored - so many ways to sneak in...and yet not at all!

    ReplyDelete
  41. omg, do more of these!! you are so adorable!

  42. OMG this was adorable. Loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. haha you crack me up. I love the bikes whizzing past and you said, "It's rush hour." hahahaha. You do sound like how you look - or how I pictured you to speak. My brother ran a program like what you do now - but he was in China. He did it for 5 years and he def was a fun contast whereas I guess you often blend in. He is 6'5", white, balding and under 30 in Shenzhen... so it was always fun to see how he would try to fit in with the Chinese natives. He loved it but is back in the States now. Anyway, I loved the perspective and information you shared with us! So wonderful!
