The British Are Coming! #pinitforwardUK

My friend, Beth, forced me into blogging
all those many years ago.

She also forced me to join this new website called Pinterest
that all the other bloggers were doing.

So I did it,
because when Beth tells you to do something,
you do it.

I thought it was the coolest thing.

And soon after, most of my American friends
started to join in the fun
and it seemed like the world of Pinterest exploded.

Dreamy pictures of Parisian cafes,
Paleo recipes & fashion week styles
began trending through our lives
and began offering us more visual stimulation
than a 12 year old gets watching
the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders at halftime.

My boards- I kind of love them.

And for the past few years,
there have been different waves of discovery
for this amazing site...

...except here in the UK.

It's not really as big of a deal.

But it will be.

{Kinda feels good to be sending trends the other way over the Atlantic, doesn't it?}

This month,
Pinterest is officially here in the UK.

Helena, Amber, Evan (Pinterest founder!) & Me

Kicking off with a FUN party in London
and now the PIN IT FORWARD UK blog campaign,
they are officially here to stay!

Pin It Forward UK 2013

So what is Pinterest?
What does it mean to me?

It's a great way for bloggers
to pin ideas that inspire us for future posts...

it gives us a place to pin gadgets & travel gear
for our upcoming journeys...

it offers us working women a place to find
a delicious meal to make for dinner...

and, ultimately, it gives everyone stuck in a boring job
something fun to do every day from 2-4pm.

Are you already on Pinterest?

If not, it's time...

And if you need to learn more about it-
maybe check out the ABOUT page,
where you'll see... you know, me.

{PS. I feel SO cool to be featured here.}

Jump on the fun of meeting some great UK bloggers
by following the Pin It Forward UK campaign.

Tomorrow, my dear friend, Amber,
will be carrying the baton...
don't miss it!

Do you remember when you first "met" Pinterest?

  3. Yes, I remember joining pinterest before most people had even heard of it...however, I couldn't tell you how that happened (Usually I'm last to find all these things). I love it. It's helped me organize birthday parties and make wish lists. The wish lists is great b/c any time I get a little extra cash I can look at my board and see what I want the most (or if I should just hang tight a little longer to get that thing I've REALLY been wanting). I love it!

  5. Oh Pinterest. Such a love/hate relationship I have with it (mostly love, though). I started around wedding planning time, which was both the best time to start and the worst time. I love using it so much more now, though!

  6. Started using it from the beginning - one of the first times in my life I've ever been ahead of the trend! Pinterest is such a big deal here, since I live right by Silicon Valley so I love it to death :)

  7. Thanks for participating in Pin It Forward, Lauren! It's great to hear that you have discovered so many inspirations on Pinterest from gadgets, travel gear, recipes & more! I love your Home board- turning tean tins into fridge magnets is an amazing idea! I'm glad you had fun at the kick-off party too! Lauren, Community Coordinator

  8. I love Pinterest. I spend entirely too much time on it! I pin a ton of photos of destinations that I'd love to travel to someday.

(Also, just as an FYI, the founder's name is Evan--he's engaged to one of my friends.)

  9. I first met Pinterest quite awhile back (while living in Canada - seems so long ago) and I have loved it. I am totally a visual person and I eat up all that is beautiful and pretty. It has been fun seeing what my friends are pinning (as well as being visual I am incredibly nosy). I have not been pinning as much as I use to since moving to the UK but now that you have reminded me of it I will get right on that.
Happy it has come to the UK!

  10. Pinterest is like a black hole that I don't want to find my way out of. Totally addictive. I think the key is learning to stay focused-- like "what am I here for? a recipe? decorating idea?" and then stick to it. Otherwise I get lost in all the awesomeness. Also, those burgers look delicious-- and totally pin-worthy!

  11. That's so fun you got to do all of that! I feel like an obnoxious hipster saying this, but I joined Pinterest long before it was popular. I probably said "it's like interest but with a p" one thousand times. I loved it at the beginning, but I'm not quite as obsessed anymore. After seeing the same pin 50 times, it starts to lose some of its charm. I now only look at it on Fridays which I love because it doesn't distract me during the week and then there are lots of new pins to see. I don't actually act on most of the pins on my boards, but in general it just makes me think more of design and come up with my own ideas, which I love! -Courtney

  14. so glad that you are introducing the best procrastination tool to the uk! i found pinterest during finals week freshman year. don't know how i was ever pulled away from it long enough to attend my tests. now all of the education and CSD majors use it to pin classroom ideas. good for them, but i unfollow those boards asap. ain't nobody got time for innovative time-out corner ideas.

  15. I've been fighting Pinterest's pull for so long (no real solid reason why) but I just may have to join now. Good for you, you certainly are an excellent representative for the UK push!
