My Notting Hill: New Series

There are many great things about Dallas,
but let's be honest-
it's completely different from London.

While it suits many people's fancy
to have suburban convenience (hello, Costco!)
and a calendar stuffed with sunshine,
I march to the beat of a different drum.

What can I say?

I'm a sucker for hauling my groceries endless blocks
and living in a tiny space
all for the sake of culture.

Starting tomorrow,
keep your eyes peeled for a fun new series
that I've created
with the help of my friend, Noah.

We've cruised my neighborhood
and picked some of my favorite spots
here in Notting Hill
to share with you.

Part of me hates to share such "gems..."
but the other part of me just can't wait
to give you some great new spots
and a peek into our life here in Notting Hill.

I'm sharing my favorites with you,
now do the same for us:
What's a favorite local find
near your home?

I'd love to hear about them!

  1. It is hard to imaging Dallas beating Notting Hill in anything but traffic jams. :) You are looking lovely as usual! The only thing this post is missing is a glitter headband!

  2. YESSS I can't wait for this series! This is going to make me soooo "homesick" for Notting Hill, ugh.

When I was in London I really fell in love with Bumpkin on Westbourne Park and Ledbury Rd.

  3. Looking forward to your Notting Hill series. I am planning to visit London in the Spring especially to explore Notting Hill. My favourite hang out in London is in the South Kensington and Chelsea area.

  4. I'm pretty sure your past Notting Hill posts were the reason I moved to Notting Hill :)

  5. how fantastic! i lived in notting hill for four glorious months in 2000 when i was studying victorian art and british politics as part of my undergraduate studies through a study abroad program. there's no where on earth like london and, like gertrude stein said of paris, "america is my country but LONDON is my home town." i was finally about to go back last year, twelve years was a long time to be away -- i miss it terribly and love to live vicariously through your blog. cannot wait to read of your favorite spots. cheers!

  6. Score. I am being completely selfish but I'm thrilled with this new series. As for my hometown of Little Rock, it's hard to beat Zaza for wood-oven pizza, The Green Corner Store with their Loblolly ice cream, and Ciao Baci for great cocktails and an eclectic menu. I tried to think of non-food options, but I'm a little stumped. Clearly I've got some exploring of my own to do!

  16. My favorite local find in the Dallas area is Rush Patisserie http://rushpatisserie.com/ such a wonderful little slice of France-so decadent! Being from the Northeast, going there makes me feel a little less suburban :) Can't wait for your series on Notting Hill, Anglophile that I am!

  18. Darling place. A place near me is The Swiss Pastry Shop in Ft. Worth., Texas It's not quaint or cozy....Matter of fact I bet it hasn't changed in 50 yrs. But, the food is delicious, well priced and the waitresses are so friendly. We are new in town and they have made us feel very welcome.

  21. Hi, I'm new to your blog, and a fellow American Notting Hill-dweller. And I look forward to seeing your list. Seeing these spots through someone else's eyes will help me gain a fresh appreciation for our 'hood, (instead of my default moaning about getting through yet another dark, wet day indoors with little ones...). Btw, I can't wait to check out Book & Kitchen. I also enjoy the little cafe at the back of Books for Cooks, but I suppose you know about that place:)
