Homeward Bound

Every time Tyler and I have a free night,
I always ask for the same thing:

Can we lay in bed and watch a girly movie?

I don't think it has ever actually happened...
but if I have to fault Tyler for one thing
I guess ignoring this request
in lieu of getting Thai takeout and Arrested Development
isn't too severe of a mark against him.

Plus, he does the laundry
so I pick my battles.

I loved being pregnant for the very reason I was entitled to hibernate. I wished for bedrest!

So while my aspirations of lounging in bed
a la Charlie's grandparents
as they wish him well for the chocolate factory
have yet to win out,
I could win big
with a lineup like this
for our next night in.

Too bad I couldn't find
Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia to add to this lineup...
because that always join this house party.

What's your "normal" for a slacker night in?

  1. Well since I don't have a tv its the next best thing - reading my kindle. I have taken a while to discover the twilight series and though the entertainment has been brief (4 books in 4 days!) it was fun. I love curling up on the couch with a good book, the fire roaring and my pup snoring quietly next to me...oh and there's usually a pudding involved - my chocolate fondants have been a common sighting this winter...here's the link to the recipe - too easy to make http://myfarmlifediary.blogspot.com/2013/06/oreo-chocolate-fondants.html

  2. During the summer, our lazy night's in are usually spent talking on the patio. When the weather turns, as it tends to do here in the Northeast, it's curled up on the couch or bed, in pajamas, with whatever series we happen to be watching at the time.

  3. Most of our nights, these days, are nights in. With three little ones, babysitting is EXPENSIVE (by the time you pay for babysitting, there is no money left to go anywhere! Ha!). We save for special occasions though. Anyway, we are the Kings and Queens of staying at home. We tend to rent a season (since we don't have cable) and watch it all the way through. Tonight, we are starting Homeland! (I haven't seen Arrested Development yet...it's next on my list). I try and plan ahead and get a special dessert just for us in bed. Make sure the house is clean...you know, just set the mood for relaxation. We are really low maintenance right now. Perhaps because we played for 6 years before having kids. I do look forward to actually getting out of my sweats and having a special place to wear a LBD again!

  5. Love that t-shirt and stretchy pants are one of my all-time favorite things ever! I can recite the entire Sound of Music movie. You would lose your mind if we watched it together!

  6. I'm dating someone new after being single for YEARS, so my nights in these days are few and far between, and they look like a hot bath, nice pjs, and a book in bed. May not sound like much, but it's heaven. :)

  7. Ha! Our nightly ritual used to be ice cream, popcorn, and HIMYM in bed (or Psych). I wasn't pregnant or anything, just me.

  8. Our favorite is to get a movie at redbox, stop by our favorite thai restaurant for takeout and sink into the couch in our jammies. Sometimes we even make a late-night run to the grocery store for ice cream :)

  9. I'm a huge fan of catching up on any TV, in bed, in the most luxurious loungewear my student's budget can afford.

  10. My guy and I have had several television marathons, and Arrested Development may be the best one. I gotta give him credit-- he marathoned Downton Abbey with me!

  11. Your comment on the sweatpants made me laugh. After a day out and about, peeling off my skinny jeans and switching to baggy pants is task numero uno when I get home. When I'm feeling particularly ambitious regarding my lounge attire, I match my sweatshirt to my PJ pants. My current faves feature various woodland creatures. Add some popcorn, a diet Coke, my Woodwick autumn triology candle, and an old episode of Friends and you've got one happy camper at my house!

  12. Oh Lauren, we are fighting the same losing battle girl - I beg and beg for chick flick and take out nights in but instead I get raw boy comedy or action and health food!! Yuk! Haha, all about the compromise and sacrifice... I need to purchase more lounging attire :) x

  13. I'm such a major homebody - all I want is my bed and Netflix, and my oldest T-shirt. Ooh, but those Nike's are pretty sweet!

  14. I love when I put on my yoga pants at night! Add some popcorn with peanut butter m&ms or some really good chocolate, whatever Netflix show I'm currently into (right now, The West Wing) and I'm satisfied. Of course, I'm always up for a good chick flick and cute nails, but that's much more rare. :)

  16. For a night in, my normal is going braless (FREEDOM!) and some kind of comfy pant - possibly with a drawstring. Comfy is the biggest thing. A vintage film or musical is great along with a cocktail or wine. My husband has similar tastes in movies as me so that makes it a lot easier!

I love the embedded slideshow in your post! How did you do that? (or direct me to whatever post you may have possibly written that included that info if you'd like). Really great and streamlined.

  17. Househunters International, pizza, and my bed! I also have The Holiday, It's Complicated, You've Got Mail, and When Harry met Sally on constant repeat - need my gals!

  18. White Collar is our agreed choice of shows and movies...well, lets just say Anne of Green Gables never makes the rotation. Ben & Jerry's has been cropping up recently as a splurge - it's just too good.

  19. I worked at a Wordpress blog this summer and had a widget I used for image slideshows like that. What are you using for one on Blogger?

  20. I'm catching up on older posts, and this one caught my eye. I'm 17 weeks pregnant now, and all about staying home and getting cozy after work. I'm trying not to forget about socializing with all my friends, but I am really valuing these nights in, too :) Luckily, my husband is nice about indulging me in a girly movie night every once in a while, too!
