It's a Pretty Big Day: Baby Royal On The Way.

Obviously,
I think the two babies I'm carrying
are the most important children in the world.

I enjoy the world stopping everything
and celebrating the resplendent fruit of my uterus.

However,
with today's big news
coming from St. James Palace,
I'm happy to share the limelight.

Who knows when this little bundle of royal goodness is due
(as no due dates have been released yet),
but I think it's safe to say:
I'll be spending my summer
doing circles around Kensington Gardens
trying to shed some baby weight...
and in a pathetically obvious attempt
to bump into the happy little family.

PS. Have you heard the crazy rumor
that her hospitalizing condition, hyperemesis gravidarum,
is more common in mothers carrying twins?

Well, I had never heard of it before-
which makes me think people are slightly overreacting.

(Remember the whole "peanut butter" absurdity last fall?)

Though, if it were in fact true-
I can't say that I'd be mad to learn
that we were both carrying two babies.

It'd just align our trajectory of being friends all the closer...
and make the two of us, well, twins.

Emotions, screaming, fanfare welcome below.

I want to be cool about all of this, but I'm going to fail miserably.

  1. I am somewhat obsessed with Princess Kate. I'd like to think that if I had grown up in England, my mom would have also practically sold her soul (ummm.. not really) to put me in the same schools as Prince William. I want to be pregnant now so that I can be twins with Kate too! (Hi, I am also unable to be cool about this news.)

    Totally. :)
    You're too cute.
Give those little girlies a pat from a Reader in Connecticut! :)

  4. Lauren, when I read this news this morning (re: her condition being more common when pregnant with twins), I TOTALLY thought "just like Lauren! THEY MUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS NOW!" Please make it happen. PLEASE. I am also geeking out over this. Way. Too. Much. ;)

    Love,
    Jill

  5. I have to admit that although I'm not a follower of Royal news, that this bit of info made me happy. It's just a joyous thought that there will be a baby amongst the royal family. I'm also delighted to hear about your baby news, and it's twins to boot! Congrats!

  7. I think you know I'm obsessed. I may play with our Happy Land Royal wedding Will and Kate set more than the kids...ahem. I'm totally counting on you becoming friends and inviting me to your play dates. I am so happy for them. I'm not typically a celebrity follower, but I've always really enjoyed following the Royals...and the beautiful princess just makes it that much more enjoyable.

  11. I don't know that I've ever been so happy for a couple that I don't even know to be pregnant. Well, except maybe Bill & Giuliana. But really -- the Royal Wedding was all kinds of amazing and happy, so a royal baby can only be that much more wonderful!

I do feel nervous for her since they're announcing it so early. ::crosses fingers for her::

  12. I completely failed at staying cool about this. I saw the headline while I was at work and ran around trying to find someone else who was as excited. Since I work on a military base with a bunch of soldiers, no such luck. I knew I could count on you for equal excitement =)

  17. I'm obsessed and I don't have the luxury of potentially running into them! I can't imagine how excited I would be if I were in the same neighborhood as them! Maybe you'll run into her doing maternity shopping? Wasn't she spotted at the Gap before?

  18. in no way shape or form will i be cool about this!

  23. I was SO thrilled when I heard the news this evening! Gosh. I don't exactly envy her right now though ... hyperemesis gravidarum plus an eager public prying into every pregnancy detail.

  24. I had HG it was awful, like a perpetual hangover, at the time I was also told that it could be an indicator of having twins, who knows, but my sister had twins and didn't have it. Ugh I hate being old now, I wish I had had a baby.

  25. Haha, you and Kate are totally twins! You two do look like you could be related :)

  27. I immediately thought of you when I read the news. Clearly this means you are destined to be friends & will now meet in some sort of baby playgroup. Because I'm sure the royal heirs will be in playgroups.

  29. So that's how the twins rumor has been started! I kept hearing it but didn't know why. It's such an exciting time!

  30. Think I might have said it before, but hey: Forget about you and KM just being best friends, now you have an actual shot at carrying the future spouse to the future king :) How's that for close?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love it! I wondered if it was weird that I am just as happy for her as I am for my actual friends, but I decided the answer was no. :)

  32. Could you imagine if she did have twins... one would get to be King/Queen by like ten minutes. For some reason I think that would be funny/crazy/cruel all at the same time.

I was studying pictures of her last week (because I have a slight girl crush on her) looking for a bump and saw nothing, so I am guessing she SUPER early in her pregnancy. I'm predicting a late June baby.

And I'm with boardroombelles.com... Hopefully she has a boy and then one of your little girls can steal his heart. :)

  33. You were the first person I thought of when I heard the news. :)

  34. It is quite exciting and would be cool if both of you were carrying twins! All the more reason why you should be friends ;)

  35. i am going to be doing laps round kensington gardens too and will offer her my advice because you know she will so care what i have to say.

  36. Story of my life, girl. Actually, when my friend first told me about the possibility of twins, I immediately thought of you & twin baby play dates. Also, I can really only imagine her with a girl at this point, so I can so imagine you guys ruling the girl world of London together. Just invite me over for tea when you guys are in baby classes together or something, okay?

But yes, my excitement is actually not normal. People are judging me hardcore. #HatersGonnaHate

  37. You are too cute and too funny! Your precious twins will indeed get a much better fan fare when they arrive as I've seen plenty of y'alls parents affection! I can only imagine the pictures, the gifts, the love that will be lavished! However, I have to admit…it would be fun to be her friend! Keep us posted, girl!

  38. I just recently found your blog and I love it! I think you being pregnant + Kate being pregnant means that you two are meant for friendship :)
